The Solar Heat Biography

The Solar Heat is a band of brothers from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. C.J., the eldest Solar brother (now 17), has
an edgy yet rich and soulful voice well beyond his years. It has been said that “there is nothing like
sibling harmony”; and when younger brother, Cody, is not lending his vocals to
harmony, he shares time as a lead vocalist and has been frequently called “
Little John Fogerty” in music reviews because of his rough, deep voice and the
passion and fire he sings with. Cody’s
twin, Mack, (both 15 now) is the quiet one, except when rockin’ out on the
drums.
The band has been playing locally for the
past 7 years. The fact that the boys have covered over 500 songs from a wide
variety of genres including classic rock, southern rock, country, blues, and
alternative rock has helped them develop their current style of southern rock. Major
influences have been Creedence Clearwater Revival and Lynyrd Skynyrd, and their
influence is evident in C.J.’s guitar leads.
The band has become seasoned performers since
they started playing publicly at such a young age. They have played regularly at area
restaurants and festivals developing a loyal fan base. They have, also, played for numerous charity
events for the United Way,
American Cancer Society, and American Heart Association. They have opened for hot local bands, such as
Chris LeBlanc and After 8; and national acts including Aly & AJ ,Vanessa
Hudgens, and Jesse McCartney. They have, also, shared the
stage with David St. Romain, Marc Broussard, Percy Sledge, and Big Luther Kent.
The band released their first CD entitled "On The Right Track" summer 2008, and have been active writing since that time. They are currently working on their 2nd CD of original music. The first 3 singles are available on itunes: She Had a Gown, Slowdance, and True American Hero, and a new 6 song EP was just added. The band won Anthem Guitar's Battle of the Bands with their song, She Had a Gown, June 2009. Only Thing She Needs, written by CJ Solar and recorded this summer was just selected to be on the compilation CD, Love Song to New Orleans, released October 2009. Their original song,"It's About the Lovin" was selected as a finalist in the Independent Singer/Songwriter Awards. The latest single, "Bulls Are Buckin" is currently being played at rodeos around the country and in Canada! The new full length cd is scheduled for release April 2010.
The band won the local Colgate Country Showdown in Morgan City on April 3 and represented radio station KQKI in the state competition.
The band will be touring this summer in support of their new cd.
